According to Dictionary.com, to oppress is "to burden
with cruel or unjust impositions or restraints; subject to a burdensome
or harsh exercise of authority or power." Does any minority group
actually suffer from cruel impositions from the government, as we are
taught to blindly believe?
We still hear cries of racism, sexism,
ageism, homophobia, and anti-semitism in this grand old country of
ours. The mainstream media has no inhibition in reporting on these
claims and the events in which they are involved. We may be allowed to
come up with our own solutions to these problems, but we are certainly
bound to turn heads if we reject there is such an issue at all. I'd
like to know where in America any minority group can't pursue life,
liberty, and pursuit of happiness. Is America anti-Islamic as the group
CAIR would have you believe? Is the NAACP right when they claim not
enough has been done for blacks to release them from oppression? ADL
wants you to believe anti-semitism is causing real problems in America.
NGLTF, ACLU, NOW, the list goes on and on. For the most free country on
the planet, we sure do have a lot of people trying to convince you that
their group is the most oppressed. I just don't buy it. I don't see any acts of the American government that oppress a minority group. This is not to say that the government does not oppress any minority.
To
quote Ayn Rand, "The smallest minority on earth is the individual."
This is the most oppressed minority in America. I know that this is a
new idea for a few of you. The mainstream media doesn't report on the
individual because of ratings and corporate interests. So if the
individual is the most oppressed, this restriction of freedom would
have an immediate effect on all the groups I mentioned above right?
Sure, but they don't even
report on it, because they are special interest groups. Jesse Jackson
doesn't care about individual blacks. Kim Gandy doesn't care about
individual women. Matt Foreman doesn't care about individual gays. And
so on. So the individual is the most oppressed minority, but which of
our rights is the most restricted or flat out denied? Stay tuned for
Part II.
